Finally Thomas arrived at Silverstone and the first round of the British Superbike calendar (8th – 10th April).  Weather conditions over the weekend were changeable and the first session of the weekend was wet. Thomas started the session with good pace and worked on setup.

After reviewing the data from the practice session, changes were made for qualifying one.  The track this time was dry and Thomas led for most the session finishing in 2nd place.  A great result for the first day of the weekend.

The next day the team worked on setup, with help of Colin from 100% Suspension.  Qualifying two was just before mid-day and by this time the track was dry from overnight rain but track temperature was much lower and nobody improved on qualifying one times.  Thomas finished the session fastest, 0.7 faster than second place.

Unfortunately the weather conditions deteriorated over the day and after the previous Supersport race was red flagged twice, the first race of the year was cancelled and will be rescheduled later in the year.

Sunday’s race was clear with a dry track. Thomas started second on the grid and got a good start before settling into his race pace.  After an exciting early race, which saw changes to the top three positions, Thomas made a small mistake on the last lap finishing in second place and gaining 20 solid points.

The next round will be at Oulton Park on the 30th April to 2nd May.

Thomas’ thoughts after round one:

“I’m really pleased with how the weekend went and I’m happy with the steps we are making, I know I still have lots to come but we are getting there!  I’m excited to do some more testing before the next round at Oulton Park as I know that riding the bike for a longer will help me massively.  Oulton Park is a track that I have liked in the past, and I’m sure that it will suit my riding style and bike! Thank you for all the messages of support and I am looking forward to the next race weekend at Oulton Park”
